In most situations I just say his name becasue it is easier than going through both names. The hyphenated name is the legal name, but in most day to day situations I just say his. I didnt realize people would be so confused by it, but they are.

Marriage is the joining of 2 lives- Im not becoming his property, nor am I only joining his family. He is also joining my family. Therefore now I am a member of both families hence both names. Does that make any sense? I did think about it a lot, I didnt do it without thinking.
