For one thing ... each of those groups had distinctive sounds. This would automatically kick them out of the "Hairband" category. With the exception of GnR these bands all had an individually distinctive look ... a "no no" in the Hair band world. IMHO - Guns ‘N Roses, Ozzy Ossbourn, Van Halen and Def Leppard were not hair bands.

For one thing … each of those groups had distinctive sounds. This would automatically kick them out of the “Hairband” category. With the exception of GnR these bands all had an individually distinctive look … a “no no” in the Hair band world.
