You’re gonna laugh, I think the first album my dad bought me at a very young age (like 6) was a Barry Manalow album. I was a sucker for “O, Mandy.” I think I got Elton John’s “Yellow Brick Road” soon after. The first album, (8-track no less) I can remember buying was AC/DC’s “For Those About to Rock” sometime in Jr. High.
To Rhettro, or whoever asked about amazon unbox: On my laptop purchasing videos it works fairly well. As fpr the quality of this particular video you’ll have to wait a couple days until I get around to watching it.
I can’t remeber the first Album/45 I bought but the one that stands out in my mind, the one I can remeber stnding there holding in the store and then buying … would be Alan Parson’s Project “Turn of a Friendly Card”.
Wow, you guys did go to town this afternoon. I’m having trouble coming up with the first recorded material that I bought. Some early ones that spring to mind are Weird Al, the Top Gun soundtrack, and the soundtrack to the Transformers (the original). Those are all mid 80′s and I’m sure I bought stuff before that, but I can’t remember what they would be.
The very first 45 that I remember having was Popcorn, which we talked about before.
The very first album my parents bought me was a greatest hits album of Jerry Lee Lewis.
My first two albums (CDs; I bought them together) were the Simpsons TV soundtrack “Songs in the Key of Springfield,” and… “Spice,” the first Spice Girls album. Yeah, I was 12 or 13 at the right time to be a fan.
1st Album (Cassette) I got was one by “Chicago”.
… but first purchase? hmmmmm

Let’s see first albums…
1st I remember receiving would be “Dare To Be Stupid” by Weird Al
1st I bought would be Americana by Offspring.
And just to help boost the comments a silly bit of verse I thought up the other day.
“Energizer Bunny, hopping through the forest,
Scooping up the deadpans and punning them on the head.
Along came Jack Mangan and he said
Energizer Bunny stop scooping up the deadpans and punning them on the head. Call them into the show instead.”
It obviously needs work. Oh well I think I’ll have alot of time alone with my thoughts in the days to come.
Congrats to all the ccouples still together.

Hmm, I just though of some “Stolen from the 80′s” candidates that I’m going to have to record in the coming weeks.
Of course thoughts of Dare to be Stupid remind of seeing this in theater

There are at least 6 locations around the world that they flew her to for this video. :(
