Or, not. Anyone panicking over the impeding closing of 600 Starbucks? I am somewhat amused, myself. Though that is certainly going to put a fair number of people out of work.
No meetings for me today, so I am happy. Just regular Evil, Inc. bleh.
TSH – thanks for the awesome recaps. I think the contents of your bottom drawer would be fun! It could become a whole new segment! I could participate in that one.
Ed – 600 Starbucks closing!? Wow. I drive 10 miles to work each day and pass 6 of them, and now wonder if any of them will be among the 600. I personally am a coffee snob and don’t do Charbucks (though do admit their iced tea is quite yummy), nor like to pay $4 for a cuppa. It is sad that so many people will be out of work.
A few months back, I was reading a forum where people were talking about high gas prices and a lot of people talked about how they would cut their morning cup of coffee from Starbucks to make up the difference. I guess they all followed through on their plan.
In other news, I bought Mass Effect for the 360 last night. Spent an hour on the character creator, trying to make Shepard look like me. LOL Well, me if I had some battle scars and a goatee.
I once bucked under the stars too! I’m pretty sure that wasn’t you, though JOe — must be that we share an experience, but not in a same time/same place way!
Starbucks coffee, besides being overpriced, tastes foul. IMO, of course.
Kind of off and on busy this morning, my presense here will be sporatic.
Essbee: I’m glad you enjoyed Mass Effect. I’m digging what I’ve seen so far. :) I don’t visit Starbucks very often, but I do enjoy brewing at home with their Sumatra blend.
How did I know the coffee talk would bring Jeremy out to the Pan? LOL
Dang, i finished my coffee and want some more. Oh well, there’s work to be done. L8r everyone. Hope you all have a pleasant morning. :)
It reminds me of a cartoon panel that was once in our paper. It was a bunch of goons in Starbucks jackets beating on Dr. Evil. They were saying “we’re the only ones to take over the world” Or something like that.
ditto – RE: your mock French Press
Me likey! Price makes it nice for a gift suggestion.
Question – How do you get your water hot there at the office *Bowchikka bowbo …NO. Stop it! Not that kinda “get your water hot”!*
EssBee: First you have to decide whether you want to play console games or PC games. PC games can sometimes have hefty performance requirements, so you might have to upgrade components. That’s the main reason I stick with console games. Of course you have to have a console first. Either way, you might have to shell out some money before you get back into games.
Mass Effect probably isn’t the game I’d start with, but it’s not like it would be a bad choice.
As a “gentle” re-introduction to games, however, I’d suggest playing the Lego games, preferrably co-op with a friend. They are fun, and there’s no real penalty to dying.
Just so everyone who reads this knows (in case, say, the brainwashing takes effect sometime in the future and I lose my bearings), never ever take a job lead from me. Evil, Inc. is not the place for friends o’ mine.
I could never get into console games. We have a PS2 upstairs, and my daughter has a PS3 and Wii downstairs. They’re good for two player sports games like hockey or any of the Need for Speed type games, but mostly I play on PC.
If you’re looking for a good RPG can’t go wrong with Neverwinter Nights, for the PC. For something older, if you can find them, KOTR games are sort of like Mass Effect Lite in the Star Wars universe. Or even the Balder’s Gate series (getting even older). Depending upon how good of a system you have.
Don’t feel bad, Van. I quite often go to gamehouse.com and play their little games. It’s a good time waster when you don’t want to invest a lot of time (or thought) in one of the major games.
I’ve watch a few episodes of the new show called Fear Itself, a horror anthology show. Not been impressed so far, will give it another two episodes to see if it improves.
I was curious about that show. I saw in my Skiffy Channel magazine this month that the Masters of SciFi series was coming out on DVD as well. I like the idea of those Twilight Zone type series, but always seem to miss them.
Van: I watched ZP’s tirade on gaming webcomics and, frankly, I’m disappointed. At least ZP knows he’s being a self-important shit, but frankly, ragging on Ctl-Alt-Delete is more than a little ridiculous. ZP should just stick to games.
They use to play a matchup of Green Day and some other band on the radio. To the DJs these must sound good but to me it sounds like a broken MP3 player doing two tracks at once. However, a mash up using fugzi does sound interesting.
We decided on a whim to check the site of our 2nd most favoritist podcast (the 1st being the great Deadpan of course) and they haven’t made a new show since April 16th 2007 and they have a post dated today on there swearing they ave a new show coming out.

Is it weird to think of Charlie Sheen during sex in order to prolong the moment?
Cause that must have lasted hours…. Two and a Half Men indeed…
Best not to go down that road, it leads to madness.
Leave it to Dubshack to take a nice, wholesome night of TSH deadpaning and turn it into something surreal and dirty.
I’m going to take a shower. I think Dubshack is secretly the Howard Hughes of a mightly Brain Bleach empire.
Or, not. Anyone panicking over the impeding closing of 600 Starbucks? I am somewhat amused, myself. Though that is certainly going to put a fair number of people out of work.
Good luck on the home sale, TSH. What prompted y’all to move?
Morning, Pan!
Morning Pan!

Morning, TEB!
Morning EssBee 8)
Morning everyone.
Ed: I think it’s likely that everyone but the executives of Starbucks will be affected by the closings, and that is sad.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a drink from Starbucks…
Howdy, ditto!
Howdy! Howdy! Howdy!
A few months back, I was reading a forum where people were talking about high gas prices and a lot of people talked about how they would cut their morning cup of coffee from Starbucks to make up the difference. I guess they all followed through on their plan.
Starbucks has also over-saturated the market, so they were ripe for a problem like this. Besides, their coffee is way over-priced.
I once bucked under the stars. Does that count?
Oh, hello Deadpan.
In other news, I bought Mass Effect for the 360 last night. Spent an hour on the character creator, trying to make Shepard look like me. LOL Well, me if I had some battle scars and a goatee.
Only once?
Hola Rhettro, hola JOe!
I once bucked under the stars too! I’m pretty sure that wasn’t you, though JOe — must be that we share an experience, but not in a same time/same place way!
Starbucks coffee, besides being overpriced, tastes foul. IMO, of course.
I make really good, fresh coffee at my desk with this:
http://www.amazon.com/AeroPress-Coffee-and-Espresso-Maker/dp/B000GXZ2GS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1215013655&sr=8-1
It’s basically a french press that uses small paper filters. You get coffee with no grit, and there is no mess when cleaning up.
Hey Rhettro; finished Mass Effect for the PC. Found it very enjoyable. Hope you get the same enjoyment from your 360 version.
*Sniff, sniif*
Do I smell coffee?
I bet you do, being in Seattle, Jeremy!
Happy humpday!
I just felt a disturbance…like 600 souls being snuffed out…
*sips his Starbucks*
Kind of off and on busy this morning, my presense here will be sporatic.
Essbee: I’m glad you enjoyed Mass Effect. I’m digging what I’ve seen so far. :) I don’t visit Starbucks very often, but I do enjoy brewing at home with their Sumatra blend.

Dang, i finished my coffee and want some more. Oh well, there’s work to be done. L8r everyone. Hope you all have a pleasant morning. :)
I’m sure that’s TEB, not me re: Mass Effect. I am ashamed to say I don’t even know what it is!
It reminds me of a cartoon panel that was once in our paper. It was a bunch of goons in Starbucks jackets beating on Dr. Evil. They were saying “we’re the only ones to take over the world” Or something like that.
Mass Effect = Fun role play/action game that is sort of choose your own adventure…except its more like choose your own morality.
ScFi, good storylines, fun gameplay, a little teeny tiny bit repetitive, and retardedly slow elevators.
With my Star Bucking there is never a layOFF!
*cues cheesy music Bowchikka bowbow…*
ditto – RE: your mock French Press
Me likey! Price makes it nice for a gift suggestion.
Question – How do you get your water hot there at the office *Bowchikka bowbo …NO. Stop it! Not that kinda “get your water hot”!*
I really want to start gaming. Am I too old?
JOe – you crazy.
CP: Savage Love. Wow, Dan is cranky this week.
EssBee: I’m older than you, so no, you aren’t too old to start gaming. Mass Effect is an awesome game.
JOe: You just need to rub water the right way, and then it gets really hot.
666 The comment of the beast
Okay! I’ll try it — is Mass Effect a good one to start with?
ZP takes the hatchet to webcomics:

Only drink hot chocolate in Starbucks.
Depends on what sort of games you like EssBee.
Me I have a fondness for simple arcade games,.
EssBee: First you have to decide whether you want to play console games or PC games. PC games can sometimes have hefty performance requirements, so you might have to upgrade components. That’s the main reason I stick with console games. Of course you have to have a console first. Either way, you might have to shell out some money before you get back into games.

Thanks for the tips, Van and ditto!
I love RPGs, but don’t have a group anymore. I think I want to get into something on the PC. Unless you guys want to move to Denver?
CP: 6 Underground — Sneaker Pimps
If there was a great job, I’d consider it. :)
RPGs are lots of fun and Mass Effect is one of the best.
CP: Chalkdust Torture – Phish
Heck even flash games that you can play in your browser can be fun in short bursts:

Oh and if you go the console route, don’t forget the Wii, some fun games on that.
If you don’t mind the low res, than a Playstation 2 has a wide selection of RPGs and you should be able to get many of them cheap.
If you can find one.
I have a PS2! I inherited it from my nephew who has upgraded. Excellent!
Don’t get me started on Ico, not an RPG but a great game on the PS2.
Well unless you hate Japanese RPGs, you can’t go wrong with any of the Final Fantasy ones.
I’m writing all of this down, Van!

I also enjoyed the Witcher. I suggest finding the mod for that game, though, that unlocks some of the content removed for North American audiences.
And, of course, Oblivion
CP: Dell’s hold muzak
CP: Lies of Hate — Soul Asylum
Thanks Van, TEB, and ditto! Now I have something to investigate.
I really should hang my head in shame, the game I’ve been playing on NDS over the last week is Cakemania 2.
Tapper like games just appeal to me for some reason.
Don’t feel bad, Van. I quite often go to gamehouse.com and play their little games. It’s a good time waster when you don’t want to invest a lot of time (or thought) in one of the major games.
CP: still Dell’s hold muzak

I kick it old school.
You ever hear the Fugazi vs. Destiny’s Child mash-up that uses Waiting Room? Inspired stuff. (sorry, no link. . . . http://www.google.com)
There were versions of Duke Nukem 3D for the Saturn and Playstation (One).
That mash up worked really well, didn’t it Jack?
Oh and the N64 according to the wiki.
If I remember correctly, the Saturn version had a cool secret mini game.

;)
you guys totally went on a gaming geekgasm today :)
how cute of you!!
Speaking of geekgasms. We finished watching BSG last night and the 3rd to last Torchwood
The Torchwood was about the missing people getting sucked into the rift. I totally was crying like a wee dumb girl
Hugh sez: I think its awesome the way you cry at shit like that. Besides it gives me an excuse to feel you up while consoling you
*smack*
Are we allowed to talk BSG here or is there someone else who hasn’t caught up yet? Or does no one care anymore?
We have theories
Hugh sez: wethinks Jack is the 12th cylon
We have nothing currently playing, but we are about to listen to a Sex In Fun marathon while working on artsy stuff.
Ep 125 is Talking BDSM with Minnesota Kinky Youth
Ep 126 is Super Kinky Sex
Ep 127 is OPen Relationships
We can’t decide which 1 to listen to so we are going to listen to all 3 :)
and don’t worry, we won’t play by play those here
