Some kind of technical screwup ate the closing music. Sorry.

My hubby works with kids of approx 10 – 13. Guess what movie we’ve been hearing about all week that comes out today.
When the first one came out, hubby made us see it just so he could stay up on what the kids were watching. I’m really, really, REALLY, hoping he doesn’t expect the same of me this year… I think I feel a cold coming on
Re: juxtapoRundgren
I’m also OK with the thought, that he might just have been stoned and screwed up the line. :)
JOe, hilarious book review – thanks! I’ve been following Andrew Sullivan’s obsession w/ Palin for some time now. I think he’d love that review.
I was told once that I was in a carefully controlled mid life crisis.
New Moon was oh so terrible, but the reactions of sister during the movie were fun to mock.
Dan, I think you’re a brave, brave man for sitting through it on opening day in the theater!
DAN?? WTF?
V.A.N.
What the hell is wrong with me??
The U.S. Deadpanners are nice enough, but that Dan from the U.K. is amazing.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
*hugs for Van*
There, there. I’ll protect you from scary EssBee and her desire to change your name
I am sorry! Vanamonde, Vanamonde, Vanamonde.
I had a dream last night and Vanamonde was there. At a con and not a whit of psychological weirdness. Considering the at a con bit, it could almost have been a memory, we were sitting around waiting for something to happen.
Saw New Moon last night at the midnight showing.
terrible does not do the horribleness of this movie justice.
This movie was treacherously godawful.
The audience was indeed fun. The scenery was nice and one of the leading men is a little hottie – but seriously, I want a boyfriend that can turn into a big mean wolf and protect me.. *swoooon*
Otherwise.. the acting was.. wait.. no nevermind.. there was no acting. It was HORRIBLE! bleh.
BTW. What is a “carefully controlled”. Midlife crisis and how doe it differ from a normal one?
http://apnews.excite.com/article/20091120/D9C3ERN80.html
I blame this on Stephen King.
“Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne Cheney, welcomed their seventh grandchild, Sarah Lynne Cheney, Wednesday, November 18, 2009. She weighed 6 lbs., 14 oz and was born at 8:17 A.M. at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. Her parents are the Cheney’s daughter Mary and her partner, Heather Poe.”
I fear the Bunny. I will take whatever punishment I’ve got coming to me . . .
Yeah TEB, that led to a long discussion that ended not explaining the difference.
What if i had my mid-life crisis at 20?
Uh oh . . .
The reviewer here in Calgary said the new Twilight movie was basically a Harlequin romance.
Blech!
EssBee, for your punishment, I demand you come here and get a spanking
Only if i can stay for game night! And bring Van!
Done!
Seriously, I”m not supposed to be coming to this bar during work.
/bad EssBee
I need to get off my duff and bake a Nutter Butter cheesecake for a potluck I’m attending tonight.
EssBee is a naughty naughty girl.
heehee.
OK I’m losing it.
Looks like the crowd is dwindling. We’re down to about a half dozen for gaming tonight, including hubby and I.
Cj, no EVFN tonight?
No EVFN. Gonna hit up Grammar Girl’s book signing then take the kids to play some rockband and eat nummies.
Danamonde?
The New Moon trailer made it appear to be a 2+ hour Calvin Klein ad. With sparkles.
Anyway. Pretty funny stuff about a movie I intend to go and see:
http://www.mania.com/7-rules-for-making-hobbit-movie_article_119021.html
The wife and I will likely stay home.
We’ve been watching Dexter… WE CAN’T STOP…
Danamonde? Is that like a brand of yogert? Like cherry cheese cake flavored Danamonde yogert? Notice I didn’t say cherry pie.
I have conflicting music running through my head.
I’ve got the creepy Palm Pre commercial’s background music for a few minutes, then it switches to Dexter’s theme music… Geez, if I could just get something else viral into my head to knock them out… Maybe a Swine Flu Rap?
I had the lyrics to “Sentient 6″ going through my head earlier, but I as able to excise it by posting the lyrics to the complete song to Facebook.
Gah, now I have Nevermore stuck in my head.
Lejon, Dexter had come so highly recommended, I finally watched seasons 1 & 2. Both were excellent. Season 1′s final 6-or-so episodes were fantastic.
Although I like Dexter, S1 was the best in my view.
This one has been round and round my head today for some reason:

And of course, the question has already been raised: wouldn’t this be vegetarian-friendly?
Filet Mignon or Tank Steak?
OK. Please draw me a line between artificial rabbit penis tissues and feeding the rising demand for meat… I need to know before I shoot someone for writing that.
I love Dexter also. I still have a “huh?” feeling about the serial killer in N.A., but I think it is a very smart show. I love Deborah Morgan’s character. I wish I could talk like that at work.
EssBee: those are the pitfalls of working for the Corporatocracy.
Hrm… Sometimes I say something flip which starts making me think, and then I wish it hadn’t because it’ll keep me up at night… *shudder* Corporatocracy *shudder*

Oh, and for the record, I actually debated about whether I should use Sam’s Club or Walmart… I’m thinking Walmart is more indicative of the point I’m trying to get across, but DAMN IT I Hate Walmart.
Lejon, I also hate Walmart. And Sam’s Club. Preach on.
Cthulmart will devour your souls.
Last minute decision has me headed out for the weekend.
Take care all.

Be good, JOe.

25,163 words in my novel, and another PackRat card set completed. It’s been a good night. I am very tired and off for some much-needed sleep.
Good night, Pan.
Night, Amy! :)
Lo Pan realizes the damage of earthly libations. omfg………………………………………………………………
Good morning Pan.
It’s 6:20AM, and I’ve been at work for 17 minutes.
6:44am here. I think this is going to be one of those weekends where I’ll wonder why I didn’t go to work. Lot’s o chore’s this weekend.
ZP takes a cynical look at Dragon Age:

Afternoon Pan, working tonight, rain has arrived, ho hum.
A close relative wants to get me a game for 360 or PS3 this year for Xmas.
Any suggestions to what’s good (the last game I bought was the Namco collection of old games)?
Not interested in RPGs, more action orientated.
Yawn!
When did Yawn! come out?
Silly Van;
I already posted ZP’s DA take earlier this week.
Oh well, you still get your morning hug, regardless. ;)
I think the yawn really came out at five am when I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep :(
Today I get to spend the day with my grandmother. She wants to buy a laptop so I’m going with her to make sure she doesn’t get fleeced.
Tomorrow we’re going to see 2012, then we’re going to visit a friend to pick up a couple of pieces of art he did.
We are getting this piece of cover art (book also written by a friend), plus another piece (that Dan doesn’t seem to have on his site). We have a number of his pieces on our office walls.
http://www.djostudio.com/
Exciting times.
Ah thx TEB, engage sheepish grin.
I’ll do them one at a time since WP doesn’t seem to like multiple web links.
We have the following of Dan’s:
http://www.djostudio.com/pub2.html
http://www.djostudio.com/pub7.html
and this one
http://www.djostudio.com/pub10.html
Tomorrow we’ll have two more for our collection
Well, I’m quite enjoying the game. I think I’m about 2/3 through it.
I can’t help you, Van. I’m not much into FPS or War or any of those.
I do know Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is quite big at the moment.
I know Assassin’s Creed 2 comes out for console any time now. I enjoyed the first one. (have to wait until January for PC version :( )
Gamespot has some ideas

OK, I’m dating myself here, but when TEB mentioned that “WP” doesn’t like… the first thing I thought was “Why the hell is anyone still using Word Perfect?” It took me a minute to even come up with wordpress.
Amy pointed out on Twitter that it was Jack who scripted the intangibles section of this weeks DOF3..respect!
http://www.squarespace.com/
more expenive than WP?
Van,
It depends on the age of the gift receiver – is it an adult or a teen?
Adult Cj.
Dan suggested the new Halo ODST and seconded Bunny’s suggestion of Modern Warfare.
Depending on the person, and I know these have been around a while, but I like all of the Viva Pinata games. I also love Worms Armageddon. They aren’t RPG’s and they can be played in short bursts.
Dating yourself UseHair? That makes things a helluva a lot less complicated.
I recall a few people around here saying they dug Holst’s “Planets” – found a site where you can download them for free: http://www.myclassicworld.com/mcw/download/show.action?articleId=231&channel=myclassicdownload&request_locale=de
Of course, it’s all in German, but you can find the download links. What’s with me and the German lately?
Are you dating yourself with Holst’s Planets, Jack? What does that make you, about 100 years old?
OK, nobody make a “Uranus” joke.
There is nothing funny about Lo Pan’s anus.
CW: District 9. This a is weird and interesting movie.
Guess what I just fought in D & D…
… Grimlocks
Wait, there are no words in “The Planets”. What does it matter if they’re in German?
Maybe I need more to drink….
Hey everyone. I hope you are having a good weekend. Recuperation is coming along nicely. Of course, good beer always helps. :)
In terms of gaming…
I haven’t picked up Dragon Age yet, though I will. Instead, at a friend’s behest, I’ve started playing Borderlands on the PS3. I’m enjoying it a lot so far. Essentially, it is a FPS RPG. And I really like the graphics style. Think of an animated Mad Max with a better sense of humor and you won’t be far off.
Came up with a nice meal plan for the week, so I’m going to have some fun cooking. The traditional turkey for Thanksgiving, which I do very well if I do say so myself, Prime Rib, and Beef Wellington are on the menu. If you drop in, I’m sure there will be plenty to go around. :)
Night pan. Talk to you tomorrow.
Just FINALLY watched Transformers 2. Loved it!
I think Robot Camaros are sexy. I don’t care if that makes me crazy. I love them!
30,216 words total. 5,000-odd of them today.
Night, Pan.
*zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*
Road trip to ditto’s!
I had a night at the opera tonight, but they didn’t play one Queen song. Not even “Radio Ga-Ga”. hmph.
Thx for the suggestions.
Dating yourself means at the end of the night when you wind up having sex with yourself it’s more like a plan and less like a disappointment.
Or dating yourself means wasting $50 on a solo run to dinner and a movie before the fabled 10 minutes surfing the naughtier bits of the web.
Harumpfh!
I find I have a bit of an adjustment going into an RPG after a few years of FPS gaming. I remember having this same problem when I started playing KOTOR after a good six years of Quake.
But, having played KOTOR before, Dragon Age is quickly growing to feel familiar. I sense a time vacuum for me these next few weeks.

I saw that I was called out on Twitter about Soundwave…?
I told myself I wasn’t going to go to bed until I was caught up with NaNoWriMo. Well, now I am. I’m up to 36,710 words. I just wrote 6,494 words in a little over six hours. Whoa.
Night, Pan.
Well done, Amy! Your brain must be mush after a marathon like that.
Goodnight, mush.
Morning Pan, break out the guitar and play the Monday morning blues.
Impressive run, Amy. Don’t fry up your brains too badly with that. Besides, that’s what Deadpan is for :)
and again with the Monday.
Okay, I posted last night about being in a Minnesotan’s natural habitat, and it didn’t show up!
Back from NH and ME. I’m SO not catching up on nipples. But hello everyone.
Amy try to save some of that talent for you other projects ;)
*Wilhem Scream*
Morning Pan!
Saw 2012 on the weekend and I liked it.
It was a disaster movie in the vein of Towering Inferno, Posiden Adventure, Earthquake, etc.
True it was silly, over the top in its destruction, and totally unrealistic. But hey, sometimes you need that in a movie.
Well crashed and burned today. Made a mistake…ho hum.
TEB – would you concur with the following conversation that I overheard?
1) “I’m going to see 2012″
2) “It’s a fun movie. I think you’ll like it.”
1) “Oh you’ve seen it. So it’s good?”
2) “I didn’t say it was good, I said it was fun.”
Van – Sorry to hear that. You know, if you were “Borg” that wouldn’t happen.
Yup, that seems about right, J0e.
*hug* for Van. Hope your day gets better
Also finished the new Terry Pratchett book, Unseen Academicals. To be honest, it wasn’t overly impressed. I guess it was ok. Even a bad Pratchett book is usually pretty good, but it wasn’t up to the standards of many of his others.
At least in my opinion.
Good Morning, Pan!
It’s too early for witty banter… and it’s Monday, so this week is already off to a bad start.
VIDEO GAMES – I’m only looking forward to one, and it’s not out for a while.
DIABLO III
I’ll be lucky if I have time to play it when it does come out.
I too am looking forward to Diablo III, Lejon.
Jack, Ed: Thanks! I was pretty tired of working on my story after all that writing.
WNDRWolf: I will. :-)
Heard of this “Public Option” thing ?
Here is one oversimplified explanation of what it started out as and where it is now.
http://bit.ly/8MrwLR
Good read, J0e. Thanks.
Yet, OUR EMPLOYEES in government fight Obama to maintain the broken system, either because of blind partisan prejudice or because of lobbyist bribes.
Oh well, Sarah Palin will fix all of this in 2012. *shudder*
Gah, classical music and politics – - we’re turning into NPR!
Somebody say something tasteless – - STAT!
Although, you know what they say about classical music and billiards. . .
Jack: LOL! :-D
In classical music, you trill on the English horn when your trombones are in a corner?
Work done. Kitty litter cleaned. Garbage taken out. Now I think I’ll sit on the couch and find a B movie to watch.
Ta!
Thanks Amy :). All I could come up with was “Beethoven’s 9-ball Symphony”.
You’re welcome! :-)
While you may play classical music in a billiard hall, it is not generally acceptable to stroke your balls in a concert hall.
Opera’s not over til the fat lady sings the last number, billiards isn’t over until Fats sinks the last number.
G to the EH!
Lo pan does not understand the function of this modern holiday season. Tis its own hell.
Hi pan!
Just finished making homemade season salt. Way better than the bought stuff. Now, I think I’ll kick back and get some reading done. Or take a nap. :)
Lo Pan envies the ditto.
Everyone envies ditto !
Sorry, guys. I wasn’t trying to rub it in. I was just enjoying not having my nose to the grindstone for a change. :)
Season salt; rub it in; hahaha.
It rubs the season salt on its skin.
An a salt on our sensi
Any guesses among the Deadpan regulars on the BLC?
… and I thought I was clueless on the PREVIOUS broken lyrics!
BTW – I only owned TMBG’s “John Henry” for about 6 weeks before some soulless scoundrel stole it from me :(
So that is my excuse for not recognizing the “Kill Kill Kill” lyrics.
Why I never bought a replacement copy of the CD ???? For that I have no excuse.

Meat with salt.
Salt with meat.
Meat with meat.
Salt with salt.
Salt with Garlic and onions… And meat.
Meat with garlic, onions, salt, celery, carrots… and potatoes.
Potatoes with garlic, butter, salt, sour cream, and beef gravy.
Somehow, I’m feeling a bit peckish… I can’t say why…
Peckish? Yeah they come to snuff the rooster?
Well, don’t go down to the water’s edge
