Yeah it’s a love story, bite me!
Cool article Van. Why don’t I remember that story. I have it. Must reread it.
Ok Van, I’ll bite you
“…bite me”
So you’re saying it’s another vampire story?
The first movie I can ever remember seeing at all in a theater is The Secret of N.I.M.H..
Searching for a film and ran across this fun looking little film -
http://www.amazon.com/Wants-Kill-Jessie-Dana-Medrick%C3%A1/dp/B000HEWENK/ref=sr_1_24?s=STORE&ie=UTF8&qid=1283347253&sr=1-24
The first movie I remember seeing in the theater is Jungle Book. No, it wasn’t the original run.
My mother had this thing for horror movies with bugs in them. I don’t remember the title, but I remember seeing one about a woman who was a black widow spider (literally), one in space where the people were bit by bugs, etc. You get the picture.
I blame my mom for my absolute terror of creepy crawlies.
Ugh! I remember that Black Widow one..cheesey tv movie.
If it was now Van, I’d probably enjoy it (and do a Deadpan play by play) except for the fact that I won’t watch a movie with spiders, or even some other creepy crawlies, to this day.
My B-horror enjoyment came more recently. Once my Boo was old enough to enjoy it (about 13 or so – unlike my mom who dragged me to these, at the drive in, since I was born), twice a year, once around Halloween, once around spring, we would find the silliest movie we could and go see it together in the theater. She can’t go to movies any more and doesn’t live at home anyway so we now watch these cheesy movies on our own at home and compare notes later when we have lunch.
My first theater experience was Star Wars.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Shea Plaza.
It didn’t end well.
My first theater experience was a Double Feature at the drive-in
Showing Rabbit Test and Jaws.
I don’t think I was supposed to understand either of them…
Haven’t heard of it before, looked up Rabbit Test on IMDB. That looks like a truly awful movie.
CP: It’s Alright, It’s OK — Leah Andreone
TEB – Was it the one with Billy Crystal?
Yup.
yes it was – my god that was terrible…
EssBee, maybe we were in the same theater!
WNDR, was Rabbit Test the sequel to Watership Down?
The rabbit died?!
Awwww, poor bunny
Jack, did you hear someone’s dad asking why popcorn cost so goddamn much in a loud voice? If so, could be!
(we didn’t get out much)
I saw the original Star Wars twice in the theater during it’s original run; once with mom, once with dad. My dad undoubtedly just cheapskated right past the concessions stand. And my mom probably had a purse full of hidden snacks.

Did you older guys and gals have intermissions in the 70′s?
I remember when I saw ‘Where Eagles Dare’, the picture was stopped for ten minutes (where Richard Burton and Clint Eastood were killing the radio operators) so they could sell more ice cream and sweets…

That’s adorable.
Thanks!
When I was younger, mom would mostly go to drive in double features. I remember the dancing concession treats between the movies.
Yes, Van, I remember intermissions, but do resent the “older” a bit!
;)
I was thinking the same thing EssBee, about being called “older”
OK, I said I was going to be better about promoting my stuff….
My flash fiction story, “Machine Hymns to the Dreaming God” is out in the latest episode of Michelle M. Welch’s “Theme and Variations (Pus 2)” anthology.

Well I was trying to be diplomatic.
I’ll get my coat..
Flash Fic downloaded. Well done Jackaroo.
I wanna walk like ditto.
I think it’s time to have lunch like thoughts.
Then, back to month end *sigh*
I’m downloading right now. Will have to listen after lunch.
Does ditto walk like an Egyptian then?
Ha ha, Van, just kidding.
I walk like a man.
Without the falsetto
*ahem*
CP: You Don’t Believe — The Alan Parson’s Project
As for being older, the super-cute woman who cuts my hair told me that it was TIME to do a glaze and get rid of some of the grey.
Boo hoo.
This is why Im bald.
I dont believe Alan Parson even had a project
Back from a having a relatively healthy lunch. Vanamonde wouldn’t be proud
I’ve seen ditto walk. It didn’t seem any different from anybody else. Am I missing something?
You tried the glaze, eh Lo?
Who else is now thinking of donuts?
I still try the glaze….
Jack: Nice work. Kind of Steampunk-Lovecraftian, with a dash of “Have No Mouth . . .”
mmmm donuts
CP: A Victory of Love — Alphaville
ditto only walks like an Egyptian when you play with his Bangles.
That’s what she said!
Insects! Really? I’m sure I stated my thoughts on such things many times in the past.
All kidding aside Jack, good story
New Arkham City screens.
Looks great.

CP: Fog on the Tyne – Lindisfarne
That does look exciting, ditto.
I got Sly B Dragon Age for her bday – we haven’t figured out how to play yet, but are kind of excited.
Dragon Age is a good game. Looking forward to DA 2.
Looking forward to continuing to not owning a gaming system ;)
You has a computer Lo, you can game.
Help me Postal Wan Kenobi…

Lo Pan, you would be pretty good at Rock Band.
My brother owns that. Him kicks me ass.
I have no puter, this is all thru osmosis.
CP: Dogs — Pink Floyd
CP: Sea Of Sorrow — Alice In Chains
CP: Romeo Had Juliette — Lou Reed

Somewhere a Smartie Hottie has swooned and doesn’t know exactly why.
So funny, ditto.
Ditto, that goes beyond brilliant and straight to Epic!
I probably saw Star Wars in the theater, but I can’t say I can recall the event. The earliest thing I can remember seeing in the theater was the pilot/movie of Battlestar Galactica. I believe that’s the version where Baltar gets decapitated.
Ed: totally agree
I really, really want one of these. And they only cost a couple hundred dollars. If only I had a couple tens of dollars to spare (let alone a coupe hundred).

Brilliant poster, but I would like to know what ironic facial hair looks like.

Unrelated to anyone here: Sometimes it amazes me that people who are supposed to be adults still act like the shallow beings of high school years.
Really?
Really?
COME ON!
Grow the f…. up! already.
I saw Star Wars at the theater and I remember. Although I know I saw some some before that at the drive in. For those that don’t know what a “drive-in” theater is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive_in_theater. Maybe Planet of the Apes.
Usedhair – a buddy of mine is BIG into the TED thing. I have to admit that I really don’t know much about it.
Hell yeah, Cj.
Just downloaded Theme & Variation.
Also just listened to the latest Podcastle – great ep.

Bah!
ok my iphone has 1 MAJOR flaw
it wouldn’t let me post on deadpan
If I wasn’t so in love with it I would dump it in the trash for that reason alone :)
I have some great news :)
Hughs test results came back with amazing results! He is kicking the tumors ass
As of right now the doctor thinks we can be back in Chicago in March
Best case scenario we can go home in January
Worst case we try again in May. If March doesn’t work out.

We are pretty happy with the results
We’ve been partying like its 1999 ;)

Hooray for TSHs. That is great news.
Great news TSHs.
In regards to the iPhone, I post on the DP comments with my iphone without a hitch.
In two weeks, when my phone contract is up, I’m getting an IPhone. I thought about a droid but decided that I have a touch and I have a phone, I could eliminate one electronic device if I combine the two.
Listening to Jack and Van and Used Hair. From what I understand the 60 minute version of the film was the original student film. More scenes were added when they got the film distribution contract.
I told hubby some of the comments would be negative in today’s episode, his comment was “how could anybody not enjoy this film?”
He really loved it.
