Yeah. I can go to bed with it fully charged and when I wake up in the morning it gives me a low battery warning. If I actually use it… forget it. I’m hoping the Apple store will do something about it even though I bought it from my local carrier and not them. It is less than an year old.
If it’s still under guarantee you shouldn’t have a problem. I’ve had iPhones replaced that I had bought from the mobile phone company.
I have the same problem with my iPod. :(
Note for iPod/iPhone users: do not completely discharge your battery. You shorten its lifespan.
You’re also not suppose to charge it to 100% for the same reason. Which falls under the category of – huh?

I agree. Energy storage in general is far more difficult than most people realize. It’s why our electric grid works the way it does, and it’s why electric cars aren’t all that great.

No worries. I didn’t think you were being nasty. Hell, it isn’t even an unreasonable assumption for me to have that comic. But I don’t.
As I recall, people were pretty annoyed with that comic at that time.
A point of clarification. If you buy an EPUB file from my website it will be sent with the file extension ZIP. Do NOT unzip the file, just change the file extension to EPUB and you are set.
If you get the MOBI version, that file DOES need to be unzipped.
Basically, an EPUB file is pretty much just a ZIP file.
This is for people like me who downloaded the file than immediately unzipped it
Well perfectly natural reaction if it has a zip extension (you can stop laughing Mac owners).
However, you should be aware that if you DO get the MOBI version, it will be a remix.
The description does mention that, but I should probably include a README file or simply zip the thing. Seems silly to zip what is essentially already a zip file, but my software only allows certain filetypes. I should suggest that be changed to allow epub and mobi.

I did comment on Facebook, but that doesn’t catch everyone. It was certainly better than the third. Not as good as the first, mostly due to being too long and you just catch match the novelty of the first movie.
The whole family enjoyed it, though I can’t say I have any strong desire to see it again or own it. We didn’t bother with 3D for this one and I’d say it was the right call.

Stupid DHL. I stayed home all day yesterday (instead of getting my phone fixed) because their on line tracking said my parcel was in Calgary “out for delivery”. It didn’t show up. This morning it changed the status to “forwarded”. What does that mean? It’s not like I can ask them because I’m only the receiver not the shipper. (this is the same parcel that was stuck in New Jersey for a week).

You just need software to convert the files to mp4 I believe, and possibly to break any copy protection on the DVDs. I’m sure there are deadpanites who can recommend software to you.

I have one free episode, I think the pilot, which is free on iTunes. I DL’d it when I got the AppleTV. When I’m going from DVD to iPod, I use HandBrake. It is free, fairly easy-to-use, and works really well.
Oh, and of course I made all the DVD’s that I ripped myself, and therefore own the copyright for all of those DVD’s.

Just heard back from Amazon regarding my complaint. They will refund the majority of the order (the border fees are lost to me). They cannot replace this item because it is no longer available. The special, super duper special edition was a pre-order special only. *sigh*

Had an exciting morning on the train going downtown this morning. There was some guy laid out on the floor of the train snoring loudly. Finally security came and tried to wake him up. They asked if he would sit up or like to be dragged out of the train. Even the security guards cracked a smile when the guy mumbled “dragged”. So that’s what they did. The each grabbed an arm and started dragging the guy out of the train. Unfortunately, the guy wet himself as he was being dragged out so there was a puddle by the door (everybody who saw started using a different door). The guy yelled a few times that it hurt as he was being dragged. Security was actually quite patient, they kept giving him the option to get up but he just wanted to sleep.
Not surprisingly, people were taking pictures of the guy both while he was passed out on the floor of the train and as security was trying to drag him out. They even admitted it was going on Facebook
It was both sad and funny.
Well me and nephew went to the Stephenson Railway Museum, which was rather small (you could get round it in 15 minutes), but the steam train was running and so a short journey on a steam train was taken.
WE have a local heritage park where you can get steam train rides around the park and you can get rides on the paddle-wheel boats. It’s fun, if a bit expensive

Hey Deadpan. My faith in mankind has been restored but now I don’t know what to do. The person who actually got my package was honest about it and didn’t keep the package. Guess what just showed up on my front door (no notice or asked to be signed though, strange)

Do you know who left it for you? If you do, I’d suggest getting them a present. If not, I’d say just leave well enough alone. Failure of delivery is Amazon’s responsibility even if they’ve contracted it to another vendor. The fact that a good Samaritan returned your package doesn’t get Amazon off the hook.
I think getting the honest person a present is a great suggestion. :)
It looks like they resent it back to Canada Post who then found it’s way to me. I wouldn’t have known it shied up until I checked the mail tomorrow except UPS did a delivery and the package was on the ground at my door when I signed for the ups delivery
I’m sure a way to pay it forward will present itself. Though, I wouldn’t get in a big panic to go looking for it. It will come when needed.

^I’m not really sure I follow the article’s logic. The vast majority of science fiction written before 1970 was written by men and the polls show that the readers rank the scifi classics the highest. I wouldn’t cite that as an example of scifi being sexist, but rather a reflection of the social structure of per 1970 not being conducive to women scifi writters. That said, I can’t think of any contemporary women scifi writters at the moment. There are pleny of women fantasy writters. Anyone care to make a few recommendations?
Ann Aguirre, Mira Grant, and Elizabeth Bear immediately come to mind. There’s also the husband & wife team of Lee & Miller.
As for the article, I think it’s intentionally being incendiary. You can’t trust an online pool since it likely does not provide a representative sample.
