Haha – Winter IS COMING
Yah!
All right, I’m off. See you on the other side.
DPitMFW.
“Holy heatwave Batman! The city is melting in the intense heat from the penguins magnifying glass!”
“Don’t worry I packed my BatAir Conditioner into my utility belt, it will cool things down quickly.”
Happy Autumn Equinox, pagans!
Um. NO.

Dont ever do that again
Oh, this is hilarious:

At the airport. I might watch the second link, EssBee. Probably not the first. At least not while in public.
Outta time. Be good!
CE: Macaroni and cheese, otherwise known as Kraft Dinner.
This is the first time I’ve made this since I moved to this house in July.
If I had a million dollars….we wouldn’t have to eat Kraft Dinner….
I still wouldn’t eat KD. ;)
*nod* What Ed said.
Star Wars sketch cards:
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/09/24/star-wars-sketch-cards-from-calamity-john/
I dated a Canuck a few years ago who’d always insist that her parents bring her Kraft Dinner from their trips back to the motherland, saying that it’s far superior up there. Bunny?
And EssBee’s first link was very tame. :)
And btw, I’m home.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
I feel more like Horshack.
Never having tried KD outside of Canada, I couldn’t say. I do know things like fruit loops and cheerios tast different between Canada and the us.
JW – The Mentalist season premiere
Oh dear, it may have just jumped the shark.
Hubby and I are playing with our new toys. He wanted a mandolin (don’t ask why). Because I said yes, he got me one of these http://www.westcoastharps.com/celtic-harps-for-sale/wm-rees-harpsicle26.htm
I actually wanted a giant floor model but that was out of the question budget wise
You’ll look like an ad for Guinness playing that.
Awesome! I expect to hear your rendition of this for the next episode:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYl0uLrXP7U
Ummm. How about The Camptown Races? Without vocal accompaniment? My singing is nowhere near hers
Or Frere Jaques even?
You could always breakout the Kazoo…
Very cool, Bunny!
Fringe is back, taking names and kicking ass, sweet!
That is neat Bunny. The Deadpan needs some harp music.
10 minutes until Dr. Who.
We just finished watching the second episode of Ringer. Still not sure of it but at least interested enough to keep watching for now.
I’ve downloaded it, think I’m going to resist and watching it in the morning.
CP: hubby on his mandolin
Not one of the better Dr. Who’s
They rarely fuckin are anymore. Makes me angry how piece of shit the show has become.
Once you admit to liking Hyperdrive, your opinions on Dr Who become suspect.
Oh so youre that guy now. Well done.
Dr. Who has become a piece of shit and I have a wealth of colleagues, friends, and reviews to back my hatred up. No one but a scant percentage of people even know what the hell Hyperdrive is. The fact is that Hyperdrive is a harmless 12 episode program that is easily enjoyed then forgotten. Its meaningless. Dr. Who is a sci-fi icon that the current writers have decided to destroy with poor story arcs and even poorer choices of what characters to deem important. These last two season have sullied the good name of Who to the point that I’ve never met so many people prepared to give up on a franchise outside of after The Phantom Menace hit. So no… my opinion of my Who suck isn’t “suspect”. It’s firmly rooted.
Now go finish your tea.
Well no, I was pulling your leg, and the tea was nice.
You cant pull the leg like that over written word, you silly boy!!!
* vacuums up tea leaves*
But I will add that what Dr Who was actually iconic for was men in rubber suits and dodgy scenery (and lets not forget the quarries).
Although I was never that impressed with the Russell T Davies penned episodes of the ‘new’ Dr Who (some of the best ones during his tenure were by other writers including Moffat)and hate his take on the Cybermen.
They have been some misfires with, flawed that it is, I’ve still enjoyed the last couple of seasons Dr Who.
Well… nothing can reach the low of Torchwood’s Cybergirl Vs. Pterodactyl, but point taken.
Oh I dunno, but the end of the original run I’ll agree with you that it did indeed become more about the crap effects than the story. But IMO the writers still tried to write worthy and engrossing sci-fi stories til the end. Plus I agree that while I do love the Davies… he’s not the second coming.
Groan:

Unintentional FTW!!!!!
Now watching a movie called Morlocks. Typical SyFy schlock. This one has David Hewill and Robert Picardo. It’s sort of like Star Gate done by SyFy.
Um, wasn’t Stargate done by Syfy? Well, not the movie, sure, but…
No… It was done by Sci-Fi.
Well to be fair, the first couple seasons were done by Showtime. Then it moved to Sci-Fi
Trollhunter is a surprisingly fun Norwegian flick. Shaky-cam haters beware, though.
Goodnight :troll:
I’ve been playing around with the UK version of Onlive today,.
Nice concept, but it craps out too many times on my 10meg broadband.
CW: A Gifted Man
It appeals to my sentimental side, I’ll flog myself later for liking it.
Huh… interesting
Oh, Van.
Spotted on the Facebook:
Dr. Zoidberg.

I’m trying to get a laptop for my mom. She needs a webcam to skype with her son . . . ahem . . . and enough memory and speed to use with her Husqvarna embroidery machine/quilter. Any recommendations? She’s convinced she needs a $999 HP . . .
SIGH . . .
I don’t know about the sewing machine but skyping doesnt require that much power. Regardless, i wouldn’t go HP. They are phasing out their pc part of their business and you don’t want to get something you may not be able to get service on at a later date
CW: the new Charlie’s Angels. It’s not going to make a second episode for us
Thats what you get for watching it in the first place :P
Yeah but we had to give it a try. Playboy Club actually surprised us and was worth a second look
No I know. Had I not cut Fringe some slack after its first season I never would have known its glory
So now after seeing Scarlett Johansen’s boobies, as well as Kat Dennings boobies, its confirmed that I’ll be in my bunk til 2013
Charlie’s Angels didn’t make it for us either. I was a huge fan of the original and it just made me mad.
On the DVR tonight, The Good Wife and PanAm.
Pan an’s hitting our DVR tonight too
The TV commercial just said to “Facebook us”. I’ve heard friend being use as a verb for facebbok but this is the first time I’ve heard facebbok used as a verb. The English language is rolling over in its grave
Yeah its common down here. Great to see the “verbage” is hitting up north.
My day today: Gorgeous weather. Church. Live jazz on an outdoor patio with family and friends. Completing and turning in a homework assignment ahead of deadline and without the technical difficulties of last week’s assignment. Macaroni Grill for dinner. Getting Fiverr stuff out of the way. Fun, engaging, well-paying tasks all day long on my favorite crowdsourced work site.
Today has been made of win.
Good night, Pan.
Amy conquers Sunday.
Goodnight :mfkingmondaymorningcomingtoofkingquicklyugh:
Morning all. My foreseen time of tribulation has begun. My already non-access from work is going to be compounded by a good deal of overtime for the next few months. I shall keep us as best I can.
Morning Pan
Another day when hubby won’t be home until after I’m in bed
*hugs* Ed
*hugs* and well-wishes to Ed.
*metooJackneedmoresleepugh*
Best wishes, Ed.
Good weekend here, though rather busy.
I watched Person Of Interest, despite not liking the two main actors. It was a “meh” until about half-way through. Interesting concept. And, Mr. Deadpan started to grow on me. I think it is worth trying a few more episodes to see where it goes from here.
Person of Interest is on our DVR. We may get to it if hubby actually spends an evening or two at home.
Time for my daily constitutional!
Um…
That way lies madness
Hold me?
This is getting all rather Rocky horrorish.
…and I’m not going to be the one wearing suspenders (and I’m english remember).
Bow tie?
I meant a walk, not The Urban Dictionary’s meaning. That’s just… yuck.
Aint just urban dictionary…
I’ll wear the suspenders. And a bra.
Well, until today, a Morning Constitutional has always meant a walk to me. Now my whole world has turned upside down.
All gone to pot?
There’s a joke there about the Internet and tubes, but I’ll leave it at that. ;)
Spit it out!
CP: Bits & pieces from Flogging Molly’s new album.
Preferable to Rocky Balboa-ish?
CW: Breaking Bad S4E11
I hope Walter gets his balls back in the final two episodes of this season.
ditto, me loves Flogging Molly

CP: Sad But True — Metallica
I witnessed a horrible thing while at breakfast yesterday with my mom and Sly B. Two obviously gay guys came in to the restaurant and the waitresses made a HUGE deal about it, even going to get the cook to come look at them like zoo animals. I was horrified!
Should I write a review online and mention it? Write the owner a letter? It’s a local dive. I have no complaints about the food, though it wasn’t great and we’ll probably choose another place in the future, but I was/still am stunned by the behavior of the people who worked there.
Regardless of anyone’s personal views on the subject, that’s {expletive} rude.
I say write the review. Start with the food, no complaints but not stellar, and what really stood out was the service. A more demeaning homophobic staff could not be found. or something.
I have a headache or I’d have come up with something pithy and useful, but a I’m utter crap right now. Sorry.
Very good suggestions!
Go to Yelp and write an honest review of what happened.
There are plenty of funny ways to mock this restaurant, but it sounds like it’s really (likely) just one clueless waitress. I might say to call the restaurant manager and talk about the incident.
I’d also just give the facts in a Yelp review.
No, it was all 4 employees there that day. I think I will call as well as leave a review, though.
Sorry EssBee, I misread… Yeah, it’s a different situation if 4 of them made a scene. I still stand by my suggestions, but in light of the new information, I’d have a hard time suggesting that you could ever go back there again.

Brittany Spears has been seen in Scottsdale.
She must have heard the stories your wife tells..
Morning Pan
Tired. Also feeling beat up. My Massage Therapist really worked on me yesterday.
I don’t think that’s how a massage is supposed to go, Bunny.
Ya think? I also got a lecture. She’s making me see the doctor in three weeks.
Had a nice walk. Only saw squirrels today. Will have to start thinking of another plan. I’m not sure what I’m going to to replace the walk once the cold weather hits. My elliptical just isn’t the same.
Now… time for a snack. I see an apple in my immediate future
One thing about a harp. Like a guitar, when dealing with new strings, you’re constantly tuning the thing until the strings stretch and settle into place. Unlike a guitar, I have 26 strings I’m constantly tuning. I’ll be glad when the strings finally find their happy place.
After owning guitars for 24 years I only discovered this year that you can “pre-stretch” your strings. After stringing the guitar you give a light tug and hold for a moment. Then you tune normally. I’m convinced that this would shorten the life of the strings so I just tune as needed.
CP: Home For A Rest — Spirit Of The West
“You’ll have to excuse me, I’m not at my best
I’ve been gone for a week
I’ve been drunk since I left
And these so-called vacations
Will soon be my death
I’m so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
Take me home….”
Well Afternoon Pan, work is finished and I’m off to see ‘Drive’ at the flicks.
I enjoyed Pan Am, pity about the cold war plot..
I hear good things about ‘Drive’, Van.
I must repeat my “Trollhunter” recommendation, for those who still have Netflax.
Strange things are definitely afoot at the Circle K today.
It’s a bit weird (especially the music), with a very basic plot stretched out with long silences from the Ryan Gosling character.
A film that made me go Hmmmm

<– Stolen from Paul Maki.
I watched Terra Nova yesterday. So far it seems like a dumbed down Avatar. The concept is good, the visuals are really good, the acting is a little shaky but I imagine that will improve over time. As pilots go it seems that it suffered at the hands of a financial committee. First negative is they revealed to much background with short summations, which killed the sense of mystery. There’s the obligatory angst ridden teen. The family seems to exist for the sole purpose of putting the members in danger so we feel for the main character of the father. I can tell there are some “24″ writters presence in here. I’ll continue to watch, but if it continues to have a “hackish” feel, I’ll be moving on.
Terra Nova is also in our DVR. With the amount of time hubby is spending away, I fear we will never catch up.
We DVR’d it also. I hated Avatar and I don’t have high hopes for this one. So far of the new, we’ve enjoyed:
- The New Girl, though it’s obviously a Liz Lemon knock-off
- Person of Interest
- Prime Suspect
- Ringer (though Sly B pointed out last night that Anna Torv does the twin thing much better than SMG)

It’s a crazy thought, but you could just not buy them..
You’re right, it is a crazy thought.

I haven’t heard a single song yet from Opeth’s “Heritage” album, but it seems to be having a polorizing effect on the reviews. Did they become “The Mars Volta”?
http://pitchfork.com/news/44090-video-opeth-the-devils-orchard/
Dang, I’m at work so I’ll have to wait to listen. Hearing that there are more “jazzy” elements with long quiet spaces in the songs is a little scary for me, but I need to judge for myself.
Thats just…odd? I’m not sure how to describe that. Less “Mars Volta”, more “Yes”.
I’ll have to give it a listen over lunch. I really liked “Yes” back in the day, but I’ve kind of moved on as well.
Anybody tempted:
http://gizmodo.com/5844623/amazon-kindle-fire-tablet-will-cost-a-shocking-199
Van, I’m less tempted by that than the new $79 Kindle.
I’m tempted, the color Kindle looks a little on the small side, but the price is right. The new $79 Kindle has me thinking it would be cool to have one. Still, these are devices of convinience as I can still read ebooks on a computer, play android games on my phone.
I feel the iPad is just too large, one of the reasons I hardly use mine, the dimensions of the Fire seem about right. The lack of 3G doesn’t bother me as I get free tethering on my mobile phone contract.
I fear I may have just set myself up to get a comment from Lo by using ‘is just too large’
No way… I’m going right for the “free tethering” comment
