Yeah theres no way I could cancel Netflix streaming (until a competitor does it better). Its our TV, as we dont get cable or satellite and there’s no way Ill go back to either. Plus we all use it WAY too much. Its just goddamn annoying that they price hike then pull all this bullshit.
I spend a load on satellite, so can’t justify the extra for Netflix when I don’t use it. I should do your way!
Certainly has its pros and cons… but I guess what it comes down to is what started as an experiment has become not having satellite for nearly 2 years now.

Just listening to them talk about Netflix on CNBC and the “Bonehead decision” (their words) by the CEO to raise prices … and then this week decision to split the business.
All of the commentators said the guy should be given his walking papers. THAT based not on how it will effect the subscriber but what it did to the companies stock price. It’s down nearly 60% in just a few short weeks and none of them said they would touch it even at that discount, except for maybe day trading.

I must have missed something.
The Netflix & Qwikster (aside from the weird choice to split & rename) has been and will continue to be the perfect choice for us for now. I barely have time to watch streaming, so I get the DVD’s, and my wife and kids watch the stream all the time, but their DVD’s sit around a long time without being watched. There is no part of their service we don’t like, and they would have to double or triple their price before I’d consider dropping them.
I figure behind the scenes, there has been conflict in negotiating stream because of DVD deals or DVD deals because of stream licensing. This means the negotiations can be separate.
Just a few million more posts like this and they might regain some share value.
Halfway through the first month of their new pricing program and Netflix had already lost a million customers. While the service clearly isn’t “going away” any time soon, it’s just not what investors want to see.

Ed, I finally finished Dance w/ Dragons and have to disagree with your review. I loved it and curse GRRM repeatedly and harshly now, as does Sly B.
And now I’m re-reading the Wheel of Time series before the final installment comes out in November. I’m well into The Great Hunt and am really enjoying getting back into this giant bitch of a world. I waver between loving this and Song of Ice and Fire more.

On a serious note, I can’t remember a time DP hasn’t welcomed new blood to the comments section, so I will be blowing raspberries any any accusations of being a clique.
Oh and I’m tempted to get the iCade (which Thinkgeek also sells).
However, I can see how someone could be intimidated by our obvious closeness. Also, with the fact a first comment is moderated, sometimes we don’t see a newbie. I can see how, if you don’t know how the system works, you may take that as being ignored.

Currently about half way through “Rise of Endymion”, the last of the Hyperion Cantos. Strongly enjoyed the two Hyperion books. These Endymion books are not nearly as strong.
I look forward to the completion of “The Wheel of Time”. Is the next book the last one, or are there two? I just might have to start queing that series from the beginning as well if we’re coming to to the last book on that series as well.
Check – looks like the next one in 2012 is the closer. Dunno if I can get through them ball before then.

The USB ports seem to have quit on my work computer. Going the the long process of rebooting to see if that helps.
Reboot seems to have fixed it. Not sure what happened. I felt lost without my mouse and printer.

A nice concept (if hardly original) spoilt by some terrible acting from the two lead actors.
This one’s on my DVR. With hubby gone many new shows are waiting for his return. He comes back tomorrow but I thin it will be a little while before we catch up.
Van: I disagree about the acting. I thought it fit the characters. Plus this is the first episode, so it will only improve.
I also thought the first episode of Revenge was pretty good.
I also didn’t realize Prime Suspect was a UK remake, so you probably have higher expectations than I did.
I’ve grabbed Revenge but haven’t watched it yet, may give it a try over the weekend.
Time for a cookie play by play!
I’ve put some chocolate chips, unsweetened chocolate squares and som butter in a pan to melt
Meanwhile, I’m putting some sugar, flour, cocoa and baking soda in a bowl to mix together
My oven just beeped, telling me it’s ready for the cookies. To bad the cookies aren’t ready for it yet
I’m also separating an egg. For some strange reason the recipe calls for one egg and one egg whitr
The chocolate has melted so I’m putting it in the dry ingredients as well as the eggs and some vanilla
I’ve added some chocolate chips to the mix. The dough is pretty sticky though so I’ve decided to put it in the fridge for half an hour.
